Yesterday and this morning have been dedicated to doing the boring, not so much fun, but has to be done kind of stuff.
I had two vaccines given to me yesterday. Covid vaccine in the left arm and Shingles vaccine in the right arm. Since I will be exploring parts unknown, i figured the last thing i would want is to get seriously sick along the way.
I went to the post office and had them hold my mail for six weeks. I went by my bank to get the final documents notarized that will be submitted to the court. Hopefully these are the final documents needed to officially close Diane’s estate.
I bought the lumber and bolts needed to lift the pontoon trailer. This should make moving the pontoon boat easier while it it’s out of the water. No need for it to be in the water while i wont be here to use it. I will be pulling it out of the water later today or tomorrow.
I bought all new batteries for the Arlo security cameras around the house. I will be replacing the batteries and making sure they are all up and armed prior to my departure on Sunday.
One of the last things to pack will be all the clothes i will need. I am packing clothes to wear for at least three seasons. The beginning part of the trip will showcase very pleasant weather. Not too hot durning the day and not too cold during the evenings. The temperatures during the day in the middle section of the trip will be warmer. The extreme will be Death Valley. I have chosen to stop about 15 miles short of reaching Furnace Creek Campground in Death Valley and will be staying in a nice air conditioned room in Nevada. A/C and a shower in the room sound pretty good to me! As i start heading farther north It will start cooling off during both the daytime and night time. The coldest place i will stay is Glacier National Park, just below the Canadian border. The temperatures will range between 114+ (Death Valley) on the hot side and in the 20’s (overnight in Glacier). This means lots of different types of clothing and footwear. It also mean’s all those clothes will take up lots of space in the car!
The very last thing is i’ll be buying and packing will be the perishable food. I am waiting until the last minute to buy all of these items. They will be living in my cooler for as long as i can keep them cold. There will be many stops along the way to pick up more ice.
Lots more to do….. its always something! I was able to go out to dinner again last night with another of my very good neighbors. The food was great and the company even better!
