It has been said that a good plan is an outline to be followed until it’s time to deviate from it. It appears that I have reached that point, it’s time to start deviating!
Originally I had planned on driving to Goodland, Ks today and had a reservation at a RV park to spend the evening. I have just cancelled the reservation and will continue on since I reached my original stopping point before noon!
I had a wonderful evening last night. Good food, great company and a wonderful place to rest my head, all added up to my getting on the road this morning much earlier than I had planned for. Thanks again to Max and Judy for their hospitality.
My new destination is going to be my cousin’s home in Longmont, CO. Chuck and Linda Ponche have offered to put me up for the night. This will reduce my driving time tomorrow significantly and give me more time to explore Rocky Mountain National Park.
I will let you know when I get there!

I have arrived at my cousin Chucks house in Longmont CO. It was nice to see something other than grassland and wind generators. Don’t get me wrong, Kansas has its own unique charms. But it does get a bit monotonous driving across the entire state in one stretch.
I wondered how long it would take before I could see a mountain after I crossed in Colorado. It took much longer than I expected. Unfortunately Colorado is suffering from “Ozone days” where there is a thickness to the atmosphere that cuts down on the visibility. I didn’t end up seeing a mountain on the horizon until I was within thirty miles of Denver!
The views from Chucks house are quite nice. His home backs up to a golf course and they get to look out at the mountains every day!
