Friday August 18th (Arches National Park)

Published on

Last night I went to bed at 8:00pm. It didn’t surprise me that I woke up at 2:30am this morning and could get back to sleep! I stayed in bed for what seemed to be an eternity and decided…… if I’m done sleeping ….I might as well be driving. So that’s exactly what I did! So I got a really early start today. I was on the road by 3:45AM. The drive was good. I was able to do the really difficult parts when traffic was light, and that was a good thing.

I stopped in Grand Junction at a Walmart to pick up a few things and then I drove straight to my second national park of this trip. I am at Arches National Park, just outside of Moab, UT.

I was able to get right into the park and drove straight to my camp site. I put up my camp and needed to move the car. When I did……I discovered some type of fluid on the ground under where my car had been parked. I kinda freaked out a bit. Cell service here isn’t much better than it was in Rocky Mountain National Park. To make a long convoluted story shorter……I ‘m not sure that the fluid on the ground is from my car. I spoke with the service guys at the dealership we bought the car from and they were stumped by this also. For now the car is running great and hasn’t made any additional deposits on the ground. So i guess i will drive it tomorrow and see how it goes.

Tomorrow I plan on driving to a different National Park called Canyonlands . I will let you all know how things go tomorrow. This evening i still have to make my dinner. Then I am going to relax for a bit before going to a “Ranger “ led event at 9:00PM. I believe it has to do with star gazing. That is one of the big draws to this park. The huge open sky!

Here is another video I did showing you a little of the campground. I’ll check back in tomorrow.

If you have time between Canyonlands and Arches to stop in Dead Horse Point State Park (especially at sunset) it’s worth the time and entry fee.
