Diane and I first visited the Grand Canyon over forty years ago. We hiked down the Bright Angel Trail and back up. That was one very long day. I really didn’t have much interest in going back. However I was missing a couple of things. I didn’t have a Passport back then so I didn’t have the stamp. I also didn’t have any experience with the North Rim of the Canyon. This trip is allowing me to do both things at the same time.
I left Zion National Park this morning and had a nice uneventful drive down into Arizona to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. As soon as I crossed into the Grand Canyon National Park, the sky clouded up and the temperature dropped. Then the rain started. The further I drove the heavier the rain came down. I finally arrived at the Campground and just dropped off the camper. I drove straight to the Visitors center and got my stamp in the passport. The rain started and stopped for the next hour or so. I went over to the Lodge waited for the rain to cooperate. I was able to get some pictures of the Canyon from the balcony’s of the Lodge.
I decided to take the scenic drive called Cape Royal Road. I planned to get as many shots of the canyon as I could dodging the rain. Here are some of the pictures I took.

In 2020 a wildfire scorched a large Ponderosa Pine forest. Some of the forest survived the fire. You can still see the evidence of the fires on the tree trunks.
