Friday – September 15th (Custer State Park – South Dakota)

I woke up in a motel room. Such a strange feeling! The TV was still playing. It is going to take me a minute or two to get used to not being on the road when this trip is all over.

It took just a little over 5 hours to get to Custer State Park. I got my single night camper set up done. I then drove to Rapid City and got myself a haircut. It was greatly needed.

I drove back to my camp and decided to drive over to Sylvan Lake. I haven’t made it yet. One of the tunnels is being blocked by some mountain goats! So I retreated to write this.

Home for the next five nights.
This is located next to tonight’s campground. Center Lake Campground
Of course I instantly thought of my Daughter in Law Liza. I think they should put on one of your plays!

The rest of the adults causing the traffic jam
The babies coming up the hill

Well the goats finally moved and I made it Sylvan Lake.

I have known all along why Diane picked this place….. it is just spectacular! Words fail me…..

You have had an incredible journey. I, for one, appreciate you sharing it. Just wanted you to know that while you have physically been alone, I hope you have felt some of the power of prayer that I and many others have lifted up for you.
Can’t imagine how difficult the next few days will be for you & the family. I pray that all of you find some peace during them.
I know Diane is with you now & always will be b/c of the strength of your love. And that love never ends.
    Saying prayers….
