Time to get back on the Road

Published on

It is time to get back on the road again. It will have been six months since my last adventure. I will be heading out again on May 9th. Life has continued to march along and I have been ever so lucky to have been a part of it!

I will be leaving Cuba, Mo on May 9th. 2024. My destination will be Tinsley’s Old 66 HWY RV Park in Weatherford, OK. This will be a quick overnight stay.

My next stop will be at the RT 66 RV Resort in Albuquerque, NM. This will be another quick overnight stay. However, I hope to meet up with some friends for dinner.

My next quick overnight stop will be at a KOA in Flagstaff, AZ From here it will be a short five and one half hour drive to my first National Park of the trip.

I will be staying in the Indian Cove Campgrounds located in Joshua Tree National Park. I will arrive on May 12th and depart on May 17th.

On the 17th I will leave Joshua Tree to drive up to Furnace Creek Campground in Death Valley National Park. It will be a very short stay, just overnight. I want to see the unusual sight of the newly re-hydrated lake in Death Valley. It will be extremely shallow by the time I get there. Water doesn’t last long in one of the hottest places in the world!

The next morning I will be headed to the Hotel Burbank to meet up with my mothers side of the family. We will be celebrating my Uncle Jim’s 90th birthday!

The morning of May 20th I will be driving to Faria Beach Park in Ventura County. I will be staying there for a few days while I check out the Channel Islands National Park.

On May 23rd I will drive up to Pinnacles National Park. I will be there until the morning of May 27th. I am driving up to the SanFrancisco area to visit with a couple of friends.

May 29th I will be driving up to Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park. The state park is located inside the National Park.

June 2nd will see me heading to the KOA in Reno, NV for another overnight stay.

I plan on visiting the Great Basin National Park for a few days.

From there I am expecting to arrive at the James M Robb Colorado River State Park in the afternoon of June 7th. Another one of my overnight stays and then across the state to another KOA in Limon, CO.

I’ll be on the road for another 7 or 8 hours by the time I reach the KC area and will be ready for a break.

June 10th I expect to arrive back home in Cuba, MO

This trip will be shorter than the last one. I will have visited six National Parks and one State Park. However I will be able to see a large gathering of my family and spend more time at each of the parks!

I threw out an open invitation prior to heading out on last years trip to join me. I’m still amazed that Jeff Primm took me up on it and joined me at Yosemite.

If anyone is interested in meeting me someplace along the way on this trip, please let me know and we will see what we can work out.

If you need to reach me here’s how to do it:
