Monday 5-20 (Faria Beach Park, Ventura County, California)

Published on

I got up this morning and had breakfast with my brother Ken and his husband Owen. They were leaving for the airport and I was going to retrieve my camper and head north along the coast.

I made it to Faria Beach Park just north of Ventura, Ca and set up in my site. I have been looking forward to camping along a beach and being able to look out over the Pacific Ocean.

Home for the next three days

There has been some wildlife sightings already!

I think Surfers qualify as wildlife!

After setting up I drove down to Ventura to visit the Channel Islands National Park Visitor Center.

A very informative place as usual. Kevin Costner narrated the film about the park that plays there.

The park itself is comprised of five coastal islands just off the coast of the mainland. The only way to access them is by boat. My intention was to get a ticket and explore the island of Santa Cruz tomorrow. Unfortunately all cruises to all of the islands are sold out for the next two days! I spoke with a very nice young lady at the reservation desk and she suggested that I show up tomorrow morning and there will be a chance that there is a “no show” or a cancellation.

So that is the plan for now. Hopefully my next post won’t happen until later in the evening since I was able to catch a seat on a boat. Wish me luck!

Also – how cool to camp by the ocean?!

    1. It’s a little noisy! The waves break on the rocks less than 50 feet from my little camper and they are loud! But you are right….. it is very cool!
