Friday 6-7 (Colorado River State Park)

Published on

Today was a good travel day. I spent most of it in Utah and finally ended up in the most eastern Colorado River State Park. It is east of Grand Junction, CO.

From here I will stay on Highway 70 all the way back into Missouri, with one overnight stop in Lenexa, KS. My friends Max and Judy McClain have graciously offered me shelter for the night!

Finally, I got a sunrise picture from The Great Basin National Park
The Great Salt Wash taken from a rest stop on Hwy 70 in Utah
Very Large Juniper tree at the same rest stop in Utah
My campsite right on the Colorado River
The Colorado River right behind my campsite

I’ll get an early start again in the morning. I’m only driving five hours and will end up at the KOA in Limon, CO. I get to drive through the Rocky Mountains again. It’s straight up for quite a while and then all downhill from there!

Hi Tom. John and I camped at that same state park last October, and really enjoyed it. Good luck with the trip home … you’ll pass through Glenwood Canyon, which is quite spectacular.

Your trip looks so awesome, Tom!  I’m so glad you’re getting to do these things. I know it had to take a lot of planning
